“Results happen over time, not overnight. Work hard, stay consistent and be patient.” – Author Unknown
Being consistent day in and day out is one of the most important things you can do to be successful with this program. This will help you develop the new, long-term, healthy habits that will enable you to not only lose weight but to maintain the weight loss. Being consistent doesn’t mean that you are always following the program perfectly 100% of the time. But it does mean that you try your best to follow the program most of the time. It also means that if you get off track, you get back on track as soon as possible. This could mean starting with the very next meal or snack rather than saying to yourself, “I didn’t follow the Basic Principles for lunch today so I might as well eat whatever I want for the rest of the day.”
Losing weight takes time so it is very important to be patient and persistent. Keep on doing the best you can to follow the Basic Principles each and every day. I usually recommend that patients only weigh themselves once a week at the most. The focus should be on developing healthy habits rather than the numbers on the scale. When you feel like things are not going as well as you would like, I’d like to challenge you to think of at least one thing that you are doing well related to the program. Focusing on something positive that you are doing will help you feel better!
