About David NewmanDavid Newman has the credentials and personal qualities that you are hoping for in a practitioner. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts in 1978. In 1982 he earned his R.N. at the New England Deaconess School of Nursing, and in 1987 went on to earn his M.S. in Nursing from Pace University. He has been a licensed and certified Family Nurse Practitioner in the state of Oregon since 1990. As a nurse practitioner he is qualified to run an independent practice and to prescribe medications. Prior to becoming the medical director of Health Plus in 1999 David was an associate professor of family medicine at Oregon Health Science University. In addition to his duties at Health Plus David continues to work at Kaiser as a part-time urgent care clinician, a position he has held for over 15 years. Under his direction, Health Plus has opened a second office and started programs for children and young adults. Most importantly, he has helped hundreds of patients to lose weight, quit smoking, and get healthier. His "bedside manner" is respectful and compassionate. Always supportive, David’s enthusiasm and sense of humor have made the difference for patients from all walks of life. In his spare time David loves to spend his time hiking in the Columbia Gorge and the North Cascades. |
